Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari will never be considered for mainstream businesses until there is support for ActiveX and other Microsoft specific technologies. I realize the value of industry standards but if one vendor (i.e. Microsoft) can depart from the "industry standard" and have more market share than why try to compete in such a small niche that is highly contested like what Firefox, Opera, Safari and Chrome (Read IE ~80% of the market, ~20% everyone else). The enterprise is the key to what has lead to Microsoft's market share in Internet browsers and indoctrinates the average web user to using Internet Explorer. The reason behind the enterprises choice of Internet Explorer is simple -- it is cohesive with other technologies and works seamlessly with all the other applications used in the enterprise. While IE is not the best browser from features stand point, it is the best choice in business which, in turn, makes it the best choice. This is like saying Lexus might be the best car, arguably, the best choice is probably the Toyota for the majority of people.
